To continuously strengthen the ideological and political guidance for retired military personnel and foster a profound culture of respect for military personnel throughout society, the 2023 Commendation Conference for the "Most Admirable Retired Military Personnel of Pingshan" was held at the Pingshan Artisan Park on November 22. It is reported that Pingshan District organized the selection of the "Most  Admirable Retired Military Personnel of Pingshan" for the year 2023. Through a process involving joint selection, online voting, and offline evaluations, 10 individuals were ultimately awarded the honorary title of the "Most Admirable Retired Military Personnel of Pingshan" for 2023.

Among them are village-based CPC secretaries who are devoted to rural revitalization and have taken root in the front line of poverty alleviation, representatives of Red Star Fortress households that set an example by serving the community, loyal guardians who care about the people and protect their safety, entrepreneurs who are daring and innovative in their business ventures, doctors who uphold the Hippocratic Oath to save people's lives, and legal and political workers who stay true to their original aspirations and defend fairness and justice. FAN Henghua, Head of the OrthopedicsDepartment of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center (The Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen) (SSMC), received this honor. He is also the only medical worker among the 10 individuals elected as the "Most Admirable Retired Military Personnel of Pingshan".

Since his enlistment, Mr. FAN has been firmly committed to his professional duties, courageously taking responsibility and standing at the forefront to protect people's health. As an expert enjoying the post allowance for outstanding scientific and technological talents in the military, he specializes in minimally invasive spinal surgeries such as spine intervertebral foramen endoscopy for the treatment of spinal diseases. He has extensive experience in anterior and posterior surgeries and functional reconstruction for spinal degeneration, trauma, inflammation and tumors, reduction of traumatic fractures of limbs and joints, and replacement surgeries of hip, knee, shoulder, and elbow joints. He is also skilled in arthroscopic procedures and sports medicine surgeries for the shoulder, elbow, and knee. Notably, he has successfully performed a hip replacement for a 104-year-old patient. After retiring from the military, he traveled long distances to join the Orthopedics Department of SSMC, where he continues to showcase his talents and contribute to the medical field, protecting the people of Pingshan District from the attack of diseases.

Veterans are a cherished asset of our country. On a new journey to build China into a modern socialist country in all respects, their extensive engagement and practical guidance are indispensable. From November 28 to December 1, the Veterans Affairs Bureau of Pingshan District, Shenzhen launched a promotional campaign titled the "Most Admirable Retired Military Personnel" with the theme of "Studying and Implementing the Guiding Principle of the 20th CPC National Congress, Veterans Always Follow the Party" in Longhu District of Shantou City and Luhe County of Shanwei City. Comrade FAN Henghua was invited to this event because he was awarded the honor of the "Most Admirable Retired Military Personnel of Pingshan" for 2023.

During the event, representatives of retired military personnel took the opportunity to engage in a few in-depth discussions. Mr. FAN also shared his experience and insights with his peers. Despite shedding his military uniform, his unwavering military spirit remains unchanged. He fondly recalled the extraordinary years of the past, reflected on the nurturing and training he received from the Party and the military, and expressed sincere gratitude to those who had guided him during his military career. For this reason, he has consistently held himself to strict standards, prioritizing the Party spirit. He remains steadfast in his belief that dedication does not fade upon retirement and that he will always follow the Party's lead, forever bearing in mind the oath and original aspiration of a serviceman.

He remains unwavering in his path, charting new horizons beyond retirement. Since joining SSMC, Mr. FAN has tirelessly contributed strategies and efforts to the development of our hospital and  departments, enhancing the hospital's reputation as the epitome of excellence in the minds of citizens. During the event, he gave a detailed and comprehensive introduction to the achievements made by our hospital since its establishment, which won widespread praise from the audience. They were particularly impressed by our hospital's pleasant environment and compassionate services.

He remains true to his role as a loyal guardian and never forgets his oath. When talking about his future endeavors, Mr. FAN said he would remain true to his original aspirations and dare to take bold actions. Just like his predecessors who once helped him, he is determined to light the way forward for the younger generations. Together with his team, he will brave the wind and waves to lead the Orthopedics Department to further development, make greater contributions to the medical and health endeavors of Pingshan District, and safeguard the well-being of citizens.
