The Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen (Shenzhen Samii Medical Center) is a municipal public hospital that integrates medical services, research, teaching, disease prevention, healthcare and rehabilitation. Operated directly under Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission, the hospital is constructed in accordance with the standards for Grade III general hospitals, spanning 90,000m² with a Stage I floor area of 137,000m². It has been rated as a Child-friendly Hospital of Shenzhen Municipality. In 2020, it won the honor of “Excellent Organization in Fighting against COVID-19 of Shenzhen Municipality”. In the Fourth Term of Selection and Appraisal for China Hospital Construction Awards in 2021, it was recognized as one of the “Most Beautiful Hospitals in China”. In 2022, it was rated as an "Elder-Friendly Hospital" by the Health Commission of Guangdong Province. In 2024, it was awarded the title of “National Leader in Water Efficiency for Public Institutions (2024-2026)."

The hospital, jointly operated by Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission and a team led by Prof. Madjid Samii, Honorary President for Life of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), is the first and the only municipal public hospital jointly operated by Chinese and foreign sides in China. Its Hospital Director is a foreign national with extensive hospital management experience, and the staff includes foreign physicians and employees. The hospital reasonably draws on internationally advanced management models and standards, introduces international service concepts, and provides quality medical services for patients from home and abroad. Since its establishment, its specialty development goal has been defined as “a general hospital with strong Neuroscience”.

Strong Neuroscience refers to the hospital's emphasis on Neuroscience, particularly on Neurosurgery, which encompasses eight sub-specialties, namely Neurosurgical Trauma, Neurosurgical Oncology, Spinal Neurosurgery, Vascular Neurosurgery, Interventional Neurosurgery, Functional Neurosurgery, Peripheral Neurosurgery and Pediatric Neurosurgery. Additionally, the hospital includes related specialties such as Neurology, Neuro-imaging, Neuro-ICU, and Neuro-rehabilitation.

The hospital boasts a domestically state-of-the-art Hybrid Operating Room (HOR) dedicated for Neurosurgery and a Neuro-ICU, each covering an area of 1,500m². The hardware facilities for Neurosurgery have reached top-tier domestic standards. The HOR integrates large diagnostic and treatment equipment such as DSA and MRI with traditional operating rooms. Additionally, it is equipped with advanced devices like neuronavigation system, high-end surgical microscope, surgical robot, and neuroendoscope. This setup embodies an integrated and comprehensive medical approach where "the patient remains stationary while the equipment moves", effectively ensuring patient safety and maximizing patient benefits.
