He is the first foreign neurosurgeon who received a permanent license to practice medicine in China, a winner of the “Friendship Award” conferred by the Chinese government, and an “Honorary Citizen of Shenzhen.” For more than 30 years, he has trained a total of more than 1,000 neurosurgeons for China, conducted free surgeries for Chinese patients with refractory diseases, and made remarkable contributions to the improvement of the research, diagnosis and treatment level of Neurosurgery of China. 

WFNS has named a medal of honor after Prof. Madjid Samii and awards the medal to those who are engaged in the field of Neurosurgery and have made great contributions to the field as the highest honor.
