WANG Mei

Associate Chief Physician, MD, Associate Professor

She pursued basic studies on Parkinson's disease (PD) for about 10 years at Juntendo University in Japan. She has published a number of papers in English medical journals with high impact factor (IF). In April 2009, she began working at the Department of Neurology of the University of Tokyo, where she experienced a large number of difficult cases and developed good capabilities of analyzing and processing such cases. She is expert in movement disorders such as PD and neurodegenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's disease (AD), basic research (pathogenic genes, proteins, environmental factors, etc.) on etiology and pathogenesis of the above diseases, and the diagnosis and treatment of these diseases. She is also good at the diagnosis and treatment of cerebrovascular disease, epilepsy, headache, dizziness, sleep disorders, peripheral neuropathy and other neurological diseases.

Teaching physician of intractable diseases in Japan

Statutory teaching physician for the welfare of the physically challenged (people with extremity movement disorders, auditory disorders/balance disorders, vocal disorders/speech disorders/masticatory muscle disorders) in Japan

She received the research funding (Youth Research B2004-2007) of the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology. She has published 10 SCI papers, with the cumulative IF of 54.818. She is also an expert reviewer for the Chinese Medical Journal.
