In-depth Exchanges and Mutual Learning, Forging Ahead Together Towards the Future | Prof. Madjid Samii and His Delegation Visit Shenzhen Samii Medical Center.

To deepen medical exchanges and cooperation between China and Germany, from October 18th to 20th, the world-renowned neurosurgery expert, President of the International Neuroscience Institute (INI), Hannover, Germany, and President of the China International Neuroscience Institute (China INI), Prof. Madjid Samii, revisited Shenzhen after a four-year absence, as the team leader of the German side in collaboration with Shenzhen Samii Medical Center (The Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen).


Upon his arrival in Shenzhen, Prof. Madjid Samii was warmly welcomed by WANG Cheng, 

CPC Secretary and legal representative of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center.


Prof. Madjid Samii is a world-renowned neurosurgery expert with German nationality, the Lifetime Honorary President of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), the President of the International Neuroscience Institute (INI), Hannover, Germany, and the founder of the International Innovative Medical Solutions in Hannover (IIMS). As the first foreign neurosurgeon to obtain a medical license to practice in China, he has been awarded the "Friendship Award" by the Chinese government and holds the title of "Honorary Citizen" of Shenzhen City. Prof. Madjid Samii enjoys a high reputation in the field of Neurosurgery worldwide and was honored with the title "Father of Skull Base Surgery". 


Accompanying Prof. Madjid Samii during his visit were neurosurgery experts from the International Neuroscience Institute (INI), Hannover, Germany, including Amir Samii, Vice President of the International Neuroscience Institute (INI), Hannover, Germany, and Daniel Haenggi, a neurosurgery expert, as well as key members of the German team of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center, Dr. Mostafa Ghaffari and Dr. Ethan Kholdebarin.

01  Foster Hospital Development through Exchanges and Guidance


On the morning of October 20th, Prof. Madjid Samii and his delegation visited the hospital. Accompanied by the leaders of the hospital, heads of the Party Committee Office and Administrative Office, as well as responsible persons of relevant departments such as the Office of Medical Services and Office of Nursing Services, they exchanged views and provided guidance at various departments including the Health Maintenance Clinic, Emergency Department, Medical Imaging Department, Outpatient Hall, Pediatric Department, Stomatology Department, Obstetrics & Gynecology Department, General Surgery Department, Neurosurgery Department and others.



The warm and comfortable obstetric ward, the lively and adorable pediatric murals, and the clean and bright stomatology room made Prof. Madjid Samii feel warm and comfortable. He showed great appreciation for the hospital's strong humanistic care and high-quality medical services.



During the exchanges with members of the Neurosurgery team, he commended the team for their recent efforts and achievements, and further encouraged them to strive for continuous improvement, to constantly learn advanced technologies from around the world, and to provide higher quality medical services for patients.



Prof. Madjid Samii further pointed out that advanced medical equipment and high-quality medical teams are essential factors in building a world-class hospital. He encouraged Shenzhen Samii Medical Center to continue maintaining this vibrant, proactive innovation and professionalism, and expressed his hopes for the hospital to continue making new breakthroughs in its future development.



02  Exchange Meeting: Confronting the Future and Challenges


That afternoon, Prof. Madjid Samii and his delegation engaged in in-depth exchanges with WANG Cheng, CPC Secretary and legal representative of the hospital, middle-level cadres, and representatives from various departments. They discussed the current trends in hospital development and the possible challenges it might face in the future.



During the meeting, CPC Secretary WANG Cheng summarized the current issues confronting the hospital, the achievements made in the three years of  the hospital operation, and the direction of its future development. He stated that the hospital's overall situation will continue to improve, and more departments will be opened in the future to meet the medical needs of citizens. In addition to exploring refined management and improving quality and efficiency, the hospital will also provide a better medical experience for citizens.



Following this, representatives from key departments of the hospital such as Neurosurgery, Neurology, Vascular and Endovascular Surgery, and Pediatrics reported on the composition of department personnel, operational situations, healthcare development, and proposed new plans for the future development of the departments.



After learning about the overall operation of the hospital, Prof. Madjid Samii expressed hopeful anticipation for the future of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center. He stated his confidence in establishing and developing a distinctive hospital, with strong faith that Shenzhen Samii Medical Center will enter a new stage.



Prof. Amir Samii, the German expert who serves as Vice President of the International Neuroscience Institute (INI) and Vice President of the China International Neuroscience Institute (China INI) highly praised the Hybrid Operating Room (HOR) of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center. With over 20 years of experience in Neurosurgery, Prof. Amir Samii believes that the construction of the HOR of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center not only ranks among the top in China but also represents a world-class standard on a global scale.



After the meeting, all staff members of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center shared that they learned a great deal from the exchanges. In the future, the hospital will summarize its experience, continue to commit their efforts, and strive to provide patients with more cutting-edge medical services internationally.



At the same time, we also look forward to collaborating and exchanging knowledge with more international medical experts in the future so that we can jointly promote the development of medical services in Shenzhen, particularly in the eastern region and the rest of the city.
