To thoroughly implement the work plan of the Organization Department of the CPC Central Committe and the National Health Commission on “team-based” support for key county-level hospitals, and to comprehensively advance such assistance initiatives, the Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen (Shenzhen Samii Medical Center) invited a delegation of 23 personnel from the People's Hospital of Debao County of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, to visit Shenzhen on January 10, 2025. The group engaged in an on-site exchange and tour at our hospital. This event not only deepened the strong ties between the two hospitals for paired assistance and between the provinces of Guangdong and Guangxi, but also marked a promising start for the support efforts in the new year, laying a solid foundation for future joint development.
At 9:00 a.m., the visiting delegation from the People's Hospital of Debao County, led by its CPC Secretary PANG Qiang and Hospital Director CHEN Min, arrived at our hospital. They were warmly received by our hospital’s CPC Secretary and legal representative WANG Cheng, Hospital Director Dr. Ethan Kholdebarin, and other members of the hospital leadership team.
Accompanied by the hospital leadership, the delegation toured the hospital campus and its departments with uniquely specialized expertise. They spoke highly of our medical facilities, patient care environment, and the hospital’s humanistic development.
To honor the cherished friendship between the two hospitals, the People's Hospital of Debao County gifted our hospital an osmanthus tree. After the tour, leaders from both sides came together to plant the young tree—symbolizing their deep friendship and shared aspirations for a promising future, by carefully filling soil around its roots.
After the tour, both sides held a discussion and exchange session. At the meeting, Hospital Director Dr. Ethan Kholdebarin delivered the opening remarks, warmly welcoming the visiting delegation from the People's Hospital of Debao County and highlighting the importance and far-reaching significance of establishing a paired support relationship between the two hospitals.
Next, CPC Secretary WANG Cheng gave a detailed overview of the achievements of the “team-based” support initiative and a series of effective measures. He praised the strong sense of responsibility and mission demonstrated by the support team members and fully acknowledged the remarkable accomplishments made in the assistance efforts. During the support period, he personally led teams on five occasions to the People's Hospital of Debao County to conduct “team-based” medical support and exchange activities, including equipment donations, free medical consultations, hospital director forums, academic lectures, teaching ward rounds, and party lectures. He also shared advanced hospital management concepts and new medical service philosophy with the People's Hospital of Debao County.
CPC Secretary WANG Cheng noted that the Fourth People’s Hospital of Shenzhen (Shenzhen Samii Medical Center) will further strengthen its support initiatives in the future and contribute more to the progress of public health undertakings. He emphasized that the bond of support is long-standing, and that our hospital will continue to join hands with the People's Hospital of Debao County for shared progress and development, expressing the hope that the friendship between the two hospitals will endure forever.
One of the stationed support experts, CHEN Min, Hospital Director of the People's Hospital of Debao County, expressed that this support initiative was a profoundly meaningful journey of growth for him. Since the establishment of the support relationship, he has been dedicated to applying as many of our hospital’s proven practices as possible at the People's Hospital of Debao County. The outstanding achievements of the support efforts are largely attributed to the thoughtful guidance and strong support of our hospital’s CPC Committee.
CPC Secretary PANG Qiang of the People's Hospital of Debao County also gave remarks during the exchange session. He expressed heartfelt thanks for the support from our hospital, highlighting how the support experts actively fulfilled their roles in "passing on knowledge, providing assistance, and mentoring," bringing the People's Hospital of Debao County with many medical technologies that were previously unavailable. He described the visit as highly rewarding and noted that the advanced concepts of the Fourth People’s Hospital of Shenzhen (Shenzhen Samii Medical Center) serve as valuable models for all staff at the People's Hospital of Debao County to learn from and emulate.
The exchange event reached its climax with an unexpected surprise. Members of the visiting delegation, dressed in traditional ethnic costumes, sang a heartfelt song named Song of Gratitude in their plain and sincere local dialect. Their song expressed deep gratitude to the support team and conveyed hopeful wishes for the enduring supportive friendship. At the same time, the delegation presented a surprise gift, a thick photo album capturing every moment of the support efforts, along with a Maguhu (horsebone fiddle), a treasured local intangible cultural heritage instrument, symbolizing their deep appreciation for the supportive friendship.
Subsequently, both sides engaged in in-depth discussions and exchanges on medical techniques, specialty development, and talent cultivation. Members of the visiting delegation expressed that they gained a lot from this exchange.
Together we set sail, united in purpose, navigating the vast seas and overcoming every challenge. The successful completion of this event marks a new chapter in the supportive relationship between our hospital and the People's Hospital of Debao County. We will continue to deepen this supportive relationship and contribute even more to the health and well-being of the people in both regions.
