Angels in White Staying True to Their Original Aspirations, Serving with Compassion to Write a Glorious Chapter | 2025 “May 12” International Nurses’ Day Awards Ceremony of the Fourth People’s Hospital of Shenzhen
2025-05-12

During the Crimean War (1854–1856), Florence Nightingale led a team of nurses to significantly reduce the mortality rate among the wounded by improving ward hygiene and nursing quality. She went on to establish the world’s first professional nursing school, driving the progress of modern nursing and earned the title “Founder of Modern Nursing.” In 1912, the International Council of Nurses designated her birthday, May 12, as “International Nurses’ Day” to honor this nursing pioneer.

Through countless days and nights, the nurses (“angels in white”) used their professional skills to safeguard lives, their kindness to soothe the suffering, and their steadfast dedication to embody the true spirit of compassionate care. On May 9, 2025, on the occasion of the 114th International Nurses’ Day, the Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen held the 2025 “May 12” International Nurses’ Day Awards Ceremony in the Lecture Hall.
