The event was presided over by SONG Shuo, Head of the Office of Research & Development.
A Warm, Sincere Recognition of Teachers’ Dedication and Contributions
At the beginning of the ceremony, SONG Shuo, Head of the Office of Research & Development, extended sincere holiday greetings to all teaching faculty. Next, a heartwarming video produced by the interns in celebration of the Teachers’ Day was presented, conveying heartfelt messages of gratitude to their teachers and the teachers’ earnest expectations for the interns. In just a few minutes, the video deeply moved everyone present.
Mutual Commitment, Heart-to-Heart Sharing
Intern Representative Wang Danni: Let Teachers Be the Guiding Light, and Follow it with Dedication.
WANG Danni, an intern from the Clinical Medicine at Zunyi Medical University, shared her experiences and insights gained during her hospital internship, expressing heartfelt gratitude to her teaching mentors for their careful guidance. With deep feeling, she said, “If medicine stands as a lofty and sacred hall, then our teaching mentors are the brightest lights illuminating our path.” She emphasized that her teachers not only taught her how to treat patients, but also how to embody the true spirit of being a physician, helping her deeply understand that “Cure when possible, help when needed, comfort always” is not merely a motto, but a guideline to live by throughout life.
Wang Yanhua, Representative of the Clinical Teachers Highlighted the Mutual Growth Fostered Through Teaching and Learning, While Staying True to One’s Original Aspiration.
WANG Yanhua from the Obstetrics Division, speaking as a representative of the clinical teachers, addressed the interns, affectionately referring to them as “young comrades.” She candidly stated that for clinical physicians, the title “teacher” holds special meaning. Teaching is not a one-way endeavor but a heartfelt, reciprocal journey, where every moment of joy and dedication from the interns rekindles the passion and ideals that guided the teaching mentors in their early medical careers.
She said, “Our greatest wish is to instill in you the medical spirit of being both skilled and compassionate so that you can both fight disease with advanced clinical skills and warm life with empathy and care.”
A Moment to Honor and Uphold the Original Aspiration
Amid warm applause, the ceremony began the commendations. SHANG Yuxin from the Clinical Medicine at Zunyi Medical University came across a street cleaner who had fainted while he was returning home from the hospital where he is doing an internship. Without hesitation, he rushed to help and applied his learned first-aid skills—a vivid example of a medical student “staying true to the original aspiration and applying what they have learned.”
In recognition of his actions, CPC Secretary WANG Cheng and Hospital Director Dr. Kholdebarin jointly presented him with an award certificate. The enthusiastic applause from the audience was not only honored him, but also a shared commitment to the original aspirations of physicians.
Carry Forward the Knowledge and Values While Moving Forward with Perseverance and Dedication
CPC Secretary WANG Cheng: Embrace the “Four Virtues” and Uphold the Ethical Standards of Physicians
CPC Secretary WANG Cheng once again conveyed holiday greetings to all teaching faculty, stressing that “respecting teachers and valuing education” is a tradition deeply rooted in Chinese culture. He put forward two requirements for teachers: First,“Teach by word and actions” – those with poor conduct cannot cultivate outstanding students; second, “Inspire through subtle, unnoticed influence” – guide students through actions rather than preaching. At the same time, he put forward the ‘Four Virtues’ expectations for all teachers and students:First, have the Communist Party of China in your heart – remember the achievements of national development and cultivate a strong sense of patriotism; second, have the people in your heart – always put patients first and safeguard their health with professional care; third, foster responsibility in your heart – whether interns or physicians, diligently hone your skills, engage deeply in clinical work, and shoulder professional duties; fourth, have discipline in your heart – always uphold medical ethical standards, never tarnish the reputation of the “white coat,” and maintain integrity in medical practice.
Hospital Director Dr. Kholdebarin: Foster Love with Care, Grow Together
He noted in his speech that teaching mentors serve as both healers and educators, and both responsibilities call for wholehearted dedication and commitment. He also strongly agreed with the idea that “patients are also teachers,” thanking patients for giving physicians opportunities for learning and growth.
Speaking from personal experience, he encouraged the teaching faculty by saying that a single word of praise or a meaningful expression in the eyes could shape a student’s life. He hoped that everyone could become a teacher who “lights up others” and, through interactions with students, continually rekindle their own professional passion and stay true to their original aspirations.
At the end of the ceremony, all participants took a group photo, capturing a moment of teachers and students standing side by side with sincere smiles. This event not only honored the Teachers’ Day but also reaffirmed the principle of “Combining medical practice with teaching, carrying forward the knowledge and values”. The Fourth People’s Hospital of Shenzhen is committed to nurturing physicians who are skilled, compassionate, and responsible, continually contributing to public health and medical development.
