On the morning of February 4, 2026, the Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen hosted an important international exchange event as a delegation from the National Institute of Social Security of Equatorial Guinea paid a special visit to the hospital.

Led by LIU Changzi, Director of the Division of European and African Affairs, Level III Consultant of Foreign Affairs Office of Shenzhen Municipal People's Government, the delegation was jointly received by the hospital leadership of the Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen, including CPC Secretary WANG Cheng, Hospital Director Dr. Kholdebarin, Executive Hospital Director TIAN Huaigu, and heads of relevant departments. The visiting delegation from Equatorial Guinea included Jacinto Nsue Osa, Assistant to the Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea, Moises Angue Nso Nchama, Director General of National Institute of Social Security of Equatorial Guinea, Carlos Endje Ngonde Oma, Deputy Director General of National Institute of Social Security of Equatorial Guinea, other key management members, as well as medical professionals, officials from the Embassy of Equatorial Guinea in China, and representatives of Chinese medical teams that had previously provided assistance in Equatorial Guinea.

Both sides engaged in in-depth and friendly discussions and reached an agreement that, in the future, the hospital will receive patient referrals from Equatorial Guinea and provide them with more specialized medical services. Besides, the hospital will also receive medical and administrative personnel from Equatorial Guinea for further training.

Guided by Chinese representatives, the delegation from Equatorial Guinea toured the key departments and facilities of the hospital, including the outpatient sand table model, pediatric clinic, stomatology clinic, the International Telemedicine Center, the rooftop garden, the intelligent respiratory medicine ward, the Hybrid Operating Room, the comprehensive ICU, etc. During the 40-minute visit, the delegation highly praised the hospital’s clean and pleasant medical environment, advanced medical equipment, patient-friendly service facilities, and innovative use of smart healthcare technologies.

After the visit, both sides held in-depth discussions and reached important agreements on multiple areas of cooperation. Executive Hospital Director TIAN Huaigu of the hospital delivered the welcoming speech. He first greeted all guests warmly in Spanish, then gave a comprehensive introduction to the hospital’s development. He especially mentioned the profound influence of internationally renowned neurosurgeon Professor Madjid Samii, President of the Hannover International Neuroscience Institute, Germany. He further elaborated on the hospital’s unique advantages and practical experience as the only municipal public hospital in China operated through Sino-foreign cooperation. He emphasized that the hospital has always stayed committed to its original mission of providing high-quality medical care to all patients, and expressed his strong expectation for practical cooperation and deeper friendship between both sides.

During the discussion, the delegation from Equatorial Guinea raised two main cooperation requests, which were warmly welcomed by the hospital. The delegation stated that, in order to further improve the quality of medical services and healthcare support, they hope to refer some international patients seeking premium medical services to the hospital for more specialized treatment. They also plan to send medical and administrative staff to the hospital for systematic training to learn advanced medical techniques and hospital management experience. They particularly expressed strong interest in key specialties such as neuroscience, pediatrics, and emergency, and urgently hope that such cooperation will help them quickly address gaps in their healthcare development.

CPC Secretary WANG Cheng of the hospital delivered a speech expressing gratitude for the delegation’s trust and recognition. He emphasized that cooperation in patient referrals and professional training is a practical initiative that meets the needs of both sides. He added that the hospital will make every effort to ensure strong service support in the future, and through strong coordination and efficient collaboration, guarantee that the cooperation is effectively implemented and produces tangible results. He also noted that, on this basis, the two sides can further broaden regular exchanges such as case discussions and management consulting, thereby promoting deeper integration in the field of healthcare between the two countries.

Hospital Director Dr. Kholdebarin of the hospital expressed strong support for the delegation’s cooperation proposals. He specifically noted that Professor Madjid Samii has always placed great importance on medical education and talent development. He stated that the hospital will leverage its own resource advantages to design a tailored training program for trainees from Equatorial Guinea, using multiple formats such as online lectures, hands-on clinical mentoring, and case-based studies to help strengthen its medical workforce. At the same time, the hospital will optimize its international patient referral process to provide high-quality, efficient, and convenient medical services for high-end patients. Hospital Director Dr. Kholdebarin sincerely hoped this agreement would mark the beginning of a lasting and steady cooperation between both sides.

As the only municipal public hospital in China operated through Sino-foreign cooperation, the Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen has consistently upheld an open and inclusive development path, and actively broadened channels for international medical exchanges. The visit of the Equatorial Guinea delegation shows strong friendship between the two countries and also helps strengthen the hospital’s future international collaborations.

In the future, the hospital will use the agreement on patient referrals and medical staff training as the main foundation for future cooperation with Equatorial Guinea. It will continue to deepen practical collaboration in exchanges of healthcare management experience, personnel training, and medical technology cooperation. Besides, the hospital will make every effort to ensure high-quality support for referral services and training programs, working together to safeguard the health and well-being of the people of both countries.  It will also maintain high professional standards and an open approach, and actively participate in health cooperation under China’s Belt and Road Initiative.
