2026-05-13

On the morning of May 12, 2026, the Class of 2026 Graduation Ceremony and Outstanding Intern Awards Ceremony of the Fourth People’s Hospital of Shenzhen themed by “Guided by a compassionate heart, advancing toward dreams” was held in the Lecture Hall.

CPC Secretary WANG Cheng, Hospital Director Ethan Kholdebarin, Deputy Hospital Director in charge of teaching Affairs, YU Ping, along with heads of various departments, heads of clinical teaching and research offices, and representatives of teaching supervisors, gathered with all the interns to witness them grow into young medical professionals and embark on a new chapter of their medical journey.

At the beginning of the ceremony, a video documentary of the internship was played on the screen, along with photos capturing moments that reflected the growth and progress of all the interns. From their initial hesitation and nervousness in the wards to the confident ease with which they handled cases, from their focused study during courses to their attentive care at patients’ bedsides—every moment of dedicated work, focused learning, and compassionate care became a treasured mark of their internship experience. The hall was filled with a warm and vibrant atmosphere.

The ceremony was hosted by SONG Shuo, head of the Research and Teaching Department. He gave a comprehensive report on the hospital’s teaching activities for the 2025–2026 academic year, systematically summarizing the achievements of the current cohort of interns and highlighting key aspects of the internship program. On behalf of the department, he expressed sincere gratitude to all teaching supervisors who dedicated themselves to clinical training and guidance, extended warm congratulations to all interns who successfully completed their training, and encouraged everyone to uphold the noble principles of the medical profession and faithfully fulfill their mission to heal and care for patients.

LIU Dayi, head of the Internal Medicine Teaching and Research Office delivered a speech on behalf of all the hospital’s faculty, expressing heartfelt expectations for the young medical practitioners. He advised all interns to consistently employ a diligent and rigorous approach to learning, adhere to the medical principles of meticulousness and benevolence, firmly uphold their ideals and convictions, and pursue their own“great expectations”in the medical sphere.

Outstanding intern representative LIU Jiajun took the floor, reflecting on the internship journey, focusing on three key words: “Gratitude, Growth, and Responsibility”. On behalf of all interns, LIU sincerely expressed appreciation for the guidance of the hospital leadership, the patient mentorship of the teaching supervisors, and the high-quality learning and practice platform provided by the hospital. LIU acknowledged that this internship experience marked a crucial step in their transformation from medical students to future physicians, and that the knowledge and experiences gained would become invaluable assets for their future medical careers. He affirmed that they would carry these lessons and their original aspirations forward with determination.

Revaz Shalibashvili, a Georgia physician undertaking an observership at the hospital, also shared reflections at the ceremony. Based on his experiences from advanced training in multiple countries and his military career, he sincerely encouraged all interns to embrace great aspirations, face the challenges of the medical profession with courage, continually refine their skills through ongoing learning and clinical practice, and steadfastly pursue the path of uncovering the truths of medicine.

Following this, Department Head SONG announced the list of Outstanding Interns for the Class of 2026, recognizing those who demonstrated diligence and excellence during their internship, and encouraging all interns to take them as role models to refine their medical skills and strive for excellence.

Deputy Hospital Director YU Ping who is in charge of Teaching Affairs, delivered a speech congratulating all interns on the successful completion of their training and expressing great respect to all teaching supervisors for their dedicated guidance. She emphasized that graduation is not the end, but a new starting point on the journey of practicing medicine, and advised all interns to embrace three “hearts”: a compassionate heart to maintain the benevolence of a physician; embrace a craftsman’s heart to hone professional skills; and a devoted heart to uphold the mission of medicine.

Hospital Director Ethan Kholdebarin extended heartfelt words to all interns, congratulating them on completing their internships. He advised the interns to cherish what they have learned and practice medicine with rigor and integrity. He wished that they would always maintain their passion for medicine, respect life, make the most of their youth, and shine brilliantly on the stage of medicine.

With the click of the camera capturing heartfelt moments, all faculty and interns gathered for a group photo, marking the successful conclusion of the graduation ceremony.

Where the heart leads, simple steps follow. Though the journey of medicine is arduous, the future remains promising. May the Class of 2026 build on the growth and experiences gained at the Fourth People’s Hospital of Shenzhen to hone their skills and bravely shoulder their mission with great compassion. May they follow their hearts, which serve as the guiding light, and their dreams, which serve as the sail, making the most of every moment of their youth on the path of safeguarding public health.
