For the purpose of fully implementing the spirit of the Party's 20th National Congress and responding to the requirements of high-quality development of health industry, on April 13th, 2023, Shenzhen Samii Medical Center (The Fourth People's Hospital of Shenzhen) (hereafter SSMC) held a special conference on high-quality development of the hospital to motivate vigor, boost morale, and anchor the new development orientation of the hospital. Hospital leaders, clinical and functional department heads, head nurses and backbones of various departments attended the conference. The conference was presided over by LI Weixin, Head of the Office of Medical Services.

At the conference, the moderator first conveyed to all cadres and workers of the hospital the requirements of the Shenzhen Municipal Health Commission for high-quality development of public hospitals, and encouraged all staff to welcome a new situation and undertake new tasks, thoroughly implement the decisions of the CPC Central Committee on high-quality development, improve their political standing, focus on priority and critical areas, and get started immediately and vigorously to usher in a wave of overall high-quality development of health industry and promote the all-round high-quality development of the hospital.

Then, heads of some key clinical, medical and functional departments of the hospital gave presentations on high-quality development at the conference. Centered on the spirit of high-quality development documents from higher authorities and the deployment requirements of the hospital management team, combined with the actual situation, all departments put forward a series of work initiatives for specialty development, scientific research and teaching, medical quality, etc. in the next five years. Hospital leaders arranged the annual key work of each department in turn.

WANG Cheng, CPC Secretary, Legal Representative and Deputy Hospital Director of SSMC, made a deployment speech and put forward five requirements for implementing the spirit of the conference:

I. Continue to strengthen the cultivation of talents. Actively carry out talent introduction, talent reserve and talent incentive, and do well in talent team building in departments to provide guarantee for the high-quality development of the hospital.

II. All clinical departments should stick to creating an active learning environment and diligently practicing their professional skills. The hospital will take various measures to establish and improve the learning system and establish a learning concept of "full learning and lifelong learning".

III. Strengthen the service concept, strive for excellence in every operation, and offer better medical services for every patient. The hospital should continue to adhere to the goal of "maximizing the interests of patients" and stick to the concept of "all for patients, for all patients, and for patients' all".

IV. Promote the construction of dominant specialties and the work of subject clusters. It is vital for the high-quality development of the hospital to spare no effort to build subject clusters and specialized centers, concentrate on making technological breakthrough in the diagnosis and treatment of difficult and critical diseases, and carry out research on cutting-edge medical scientific and technological innovation and realize the transformation of innovation fruits.

V. Actively respond to the call of the state and take the lead to establish an employee welfare nursery institution. The Party Committee of the hospital decides to set up a welfare nursery institution on a trial basis, so as to effectively reduce the parenting burden of medical staff and provide a replicable and propagable model for public medical institutions to offer nursery services.

Dr. Ethan Kholdebarin, Hospital Director of SSMC, concluded the conference by asking the Office of Medical Services and clinical departments to benchmark the high-quality development evaluation of public hospitals and the assessment criteria of Grade III Level A hospitals, set goals around the overall development vision and actual situation of the hospital, enhance the core competitiveness of medical services, and contribute to the hospital's high-quality development.

The new era calls for new accomplishments, and the new journey calls for new missions. The high-quality development of public hospitals is an important part of the high-quality development of health industry. All staff of our hospital will thoroughly study and implement the spirit of the Party's 20th National Congress, and put it into practice. We will behave differently, work more energetically and earnestly with boosted morale, stay active and aggressive, strive to constantly accelerate the high-quality development of the hospital, and set a new example for the high-quality development of health industry in our city with "SSMC's efforts".
