World Top Professor Comes To Shenzhen for Medical Consultation Again

Prof. Madjid Samii is a world-renowned German neurosurgeon, the Honorary President of the World Federation of Neurosurgical Societies (WFNS), President of the International Neuroscience Institute (INI), Hannover, and founder of the International Innovative Medical Solutions GmbH (IIMS). He is the first foreign neurosurgeon to obtain a permanent license to practice medicine in China, a winner of the “Friendship Award” conferred by the Chinese government, and the title of "Honorary Citizen of Shenzhen". He has a high reputation in the global Neurosurgery field and is known as the "Father of Skull Base Surgery".

He released the patient recruitment information through the media in advance and gathered a number of foreign neurosurgery experts, including Prof. Amir Samii, Vice President of the INI, Dr. Mario Giordano and Dr. Stefan Wagner.

From August 12 to 16, Prof. Madjid Samii received 13 patients coming from Hong Kong, Fujian, Henan, Shandong, Liaoning and other places. Most of them suffered from serious neurosurgical diseases and were refused surgery in many places.

Prof. Madjid Samii and the Neurosurgery of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center have brought them hope for a cure, and many patients have made appointments for follow-up surgery after consultation.

Prof. Madjid Samii Performs Multiple Complex Surgeries

In addition to consultations, from August 12 to August 16, Prof. Madjid Samii performed a total of 12 surgeries, including complex procedures such as resection of acoustic neuroma, facial nerve tumor, meningioma, brainstem cavernous hemangioma, and epileptic foci in functional areas. One of the patients had been suffering from the condition for 35 years and had visited several neurology hospitals in China. Unfortunately, those hospitals were reluctant to undergo surgery due to the high risks involved. Since the  establishment of Shenzhen Samii Medical Center, he has received tele-consultation from Prof. Samii. After three years, he finally waited for the right time to successfully complete the operation under the precise cooperation between Prof. Samii and his medical team.

Prof. Samii is recognized as the "Master of Acoustic Neuroma" in the world. He pioneered the "semi-reclining" operation, in which patients are not allowed to lie flat on the operating table but take a semi-reclining position during the operation. This position provides the surgeon with a clearer view, allowing the lead surgeon to more precisely separate the tumor-brain interface with both hands, facilitating the complete removal of the tumor while preserving nerve function.

Prof. Samii has performed more than 5,000 semi-reclining acoustic neuroma resections worldwide. In the past five years, he has achieved remarkable results: the tumor removal rate is nearly 100%, the facial nerve preservation rate is close to 100%, and most patients retain a significant amount of their hearing after surgery.

Jointly Promote the Construction of a First-Class Neurosurgery Center

Prof. Samii not only lights up the hope of life for patients but also teaches his neurosurgery team his clinical knowledge. His pursuit of excellence in surgery and high sense of responsibility has inspired his neurosurgical team.

The ultimate goal of high-quality medical resources and technologies is to serve patients. Speaking of how to benefit more patients and introduce the world top medical resources to China, Prof. Samii said, "We will send a first-class foreign expert team to Shenzhen for long term and select excellent young doctors to Hannover to learn advanced techniques. By doing so, we will promote the development of medical education and research in Shenzhen Samii Medical Center and build it into a first-class neurosurgery center in China."
