As a medical team with solid clinical basic skills, rich clinical experience, strong service awareness and great development potential, the Neurology Department now has 2 chief physicians, 1 associate chief physician, and 5 attending physicians, all of whom have obtained an M.M. or higher degree. Also, the team has 2 neuroelectrophysiology physicians and 1 neuroelectrophysiology technologist. The enterprising team of Neurology Department has successively sent and will continue to send staff to famous hospitals in China including Xuanwu Hospital Affiliated to Capital Medical University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Sun Yat-sen University and West China Hospital of Sichuan University to engage in advanced studies, preparing for the establishment of special disease clinics in sub-specialties such as Sleep Clinic, Dystonia Clinic, Stroke Clinic, Memory Clinic, Epilepsy Clinic, Vertigo Center, and Headache Clinic. Tasks undertaken currently include:

1. The Imaging Center of SSIMC is equipped with 3.0T optical shuttle superconducting magnetic resonance examination equipment, 64-row 128-slice spiral CT examination equipment and DSA examination equipment to complete brain MRI plain scan and contrast-enhanced examination, cerebral vascular imaging and cerebral angiography examination, brain spectral analysis, brain functional imaging, etc. The Neuroelectrophysiology Room is equipped with the electromyography instrument, electroencephalograph and Doppler ultrasound unit to complete peripheral nerve conduction measurement, needle electromyography, visual evoked potential examination, brainstem auditory evoked potential examination, somatosensory evoked potential examination, cerebral blood flow examination and vascular microemboli monitoring, electroencephalography, etc.

2. With the inpatient services available in the Neurology Department of SSIMC, the inpatient management and diagnosis & treatment of common diseases, such as cerebrovascular diseases, central nervous system infections, neurodegenerative diseases, peripheral neuropathy, central nerve demyelinating diseases, epilepsy, and rare diseases, such as neurogenetic degenerative diseases, can be completed. Moreover, the opening of green channel treatment of stroke from hyperacute cerebrovascular diseases makes it possible to complete the intravenous thrombolysis in hyperacute stage of ischemic stroke and interventional treatment of thrombosis by cooperating with the Department of Neurointervention.

3. Being in service all the year round, the specialized clinics of the Neurology Department can complete the long-term management of cerebrovascular diseases, cognitive dysfunction, Parkinson's disease, epilepsy and other diseases, as well as the diagnosis and treatment of common neurology diseases such as dizziness, headache and sleep disorders. The Neurology Department is also responsible for providing inter-hospital consultation of neurological diseases for Pingshan Campus of Shenzhen Kangning Hospital (Shenzhen Mental Health Center). With technical support and guidance provided by the International Neuroscience Institute (INI), Hannover, a world-famous medical center, for the Neurology Department of SSMC, the weekly remote consultation by international well-known experts currently can provide the world's most advanced consultation and treatment guidance on difficult and complicated cases in Shenzhen and even in China.
